ArcheologyIn the gullies and some other parts of Abu Madi some interesting finds in the form of stone age tools have been found, of which several of them can be observed at the office. Catered or self-catering accomodationExperience the true African bushveld hospitality in the heart of Zululand at Abu Madi Game Ranch, whether you are catered or self-catering in our lodge, or in our well-equipped bush camp and camping facilities. All accommodation, including the bush camp, is fully equipped and linen is provided. Only at the bush camp guests are requested to bring their own towels. Guests wishing to use the swimming pool are also requested to bring their own towels.
The Lodge view tariffsThe complex is a stone thatched farmhouse style lodge with three bedrooms, a lounge, dining room, fully equipped kitchen, enclosed porch and private patio overlooking the garden and bushveld, with the majestic Lebombo Mountains and Ghost Mountain in the background There are charming thatched rondavel close to the main lodge equipped with double and single beds, kitchenette and bathroom en-suite. This unit has a large glass sliding wall opening up to views of the swimming pool in the garden and the mountains in the background. Behind these two lodge units you will find the thatched square davel with two single beds, Kitchenette and bathroom ensuite, and a private patio with garden furniture. All the accommodation is in close proximity to the boma where visitors can meet around the fire in the evening and have their dinner under beautiful African stars, listening to the night sounds of the jackal and hyena calling. Additional ablution facilities are available for large groups of visitors sharing the accommodation. The sparkling swimming pool gives visitors a cool respite from the summer heat in the shady indigenous garden. In front of the complex there is a small pond where animals frequently come to drink and can be observed from the garden. All units are comfortable and tastefully furnished. Our friendly staff service and daily meals can be catered for with prior timeous request. A friendly reminder that Abu Madi does not have a liquor license and that visitors must bring their own refreshments. Bush CampAway from the lodge and fitted for self-catering only, the bush camp is located in a peaceful and tranquil corner of the ranch with magnificent views of the Lebombo Mountain range and Ghost mountain. The accommodation comprises of three bedrooms with two single beds in each, a dining room and a fully equipped kitchen with fridge gas, Deepfreeze and cookers as well as skottle and braai equipment. And there is no electricity, the lighting is provided by visitors connecting their car battery to a point, which activates carvan fluorescant lighting in each bedroom as well as the kitchen. Paraffin lamps are hung on the length of the verandah to provide light in that area. All linen is provided, except visitors are requested to provide their own towels. Hot showers and flush toilets are found in a reeded environment. These are private but partially opened to the sky, allowing visitors to watch nature and animals when using these facilities. There is a boma where visitors can sit and cook around a fire in the evenings under the African stars, watching out for falling stars. Bundles of firewood can be purchased. Additional accommodation is available should guests wish to bring their own tents. We are also able to assist with double bunks in the bedroom should that be requested/ The Bush camp is not serviced and is for self-catering visitors only. There is a water pond directly in front of the camp where an abundance of wildlife and birds come to drink through out the day. One can sit and observe them from the comfort of your chair on the verandah. There is also a game viewing hide very close to the pond where one can also observe the wildlife drinking water.
Bush CampFive campsites are available in the bush camp but there are no electricity points available. The use of the gas fridge/deepfreeze and the purchase of firewood can be arranged with the office by campers with prior timeous notice for an extra nominal fee.
